Shiseido at 140

As a beauty writer you get so inundated with products that at times it’s hard to keep up with them all. It’s been years since I was aware of Shiseido, and I was pretty surprised to learn that they were celebrating their 140th Anniversary this year. Wow. That’s a long time for a beauty brand to have been around.

The Japanese brand have released all sorts of new products this year, and I’ve had a little sample of some of them. First off I tried their Radiant Lifting Foundation (£37), which has been specifically created to combat the shadows caused by wrinkles and sagging. Oh, isn’t ageing fun?!

This foundation aims to replicate the effects of a photographer’s reflector board, which makes the light hit the model in all the right places to bathe skin in a radiant, youthful glow. It uses three key elements – Radiant Reflective Powder which has been developed following seven years of intensive research, Photo Smoothing Pearl which fills ‘indentations’ and erases shadows to ensure no dark areas are able to age the skin, and Radiant Glow Oil which adds lustre and radiance to skin for a dewy finish.

It also has anti-ageing properties which work long-term. It feels lovely on, glides on easily and really does make the skin glow. It’s not drying at all.

The other product I’ve been trying is the gorgeous Lacquer Rouge (£23). It does remind me of Chanel’s Rouge Lacque, like a sort of non-glossy, lipstick in a gloss formula if that makes sense?! It’s available in eight brilliant shades – gorgeous nudes, fiery oranges, bright pink and some brilliant reds.

Shiseido Lacquer Rouge and Radiant Lifting Foundation and the rest of the range is available at House of Fraser stores and houseoffraser.co.uk from September 27
