Rediscover Stila!

Hands up who remembers makeup brand, Stila? Who had more than one of those famous Lip Glazes? And what about Convertible Colour? I always had a pot of that in my beach bag for quick lip and cheek colour. This lovely brand, with its cute little Stila girl graphics disappeared for a while, but it’s back and better than ever before. Convertible Colour is just £16, and lasts forever, and the Lip Glazes are bigger than before, and are now just £15.

I was lucky enough to spend an hour with Stila Pro Artist Martin Carter in the Edinburgh Space NK store this week, having a play with the products. Old favourites mix with their whole new range of amazing products, focusing on makeup technology and skincare as much as colour.

This is down to new Stila Global Director of Creative Artistry, Sarah Lucero. Innovative products in the One Step range are all hers – brilliant serums which have three-in-one functions. I tried out the Stila One Step Correct (£24) which colour corrects, brightens and covers skin imperfections with one application. The lovely Stay All Day Foundation & Concealers (£29.50) are amazing – a bottle of foundation, a colour-matched concealer ‘concealed’ in the lid, and a spatula and brush included for ease of application.

The eye palettes are fantastic, and brilliant value. The In The Light Palette contains 10 neutral shades, in shimmers and mattes, and a waterproof kohl liner, all for £25. There is also a brilliant little book inside which shows you how to create different looks, step by step.

But my favourite new product of all is the Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick (£15) – looks like a gloss, dries down to an unbelievable matte lipstick. Yes, it could be a wee bit drying, but the colour pigment is amazing. I, of course, tried the bright orange-red in Beso, and wow – it’s the boldest red I’ve seen in a long time!
