Illamasqua Generation Q - starring Edinburgh's Mairi

Illamasqua is one of my favourite brands – I love the products and the company ethos – and their new range, Generation Q, is inspired. They ran a competition earlier this year for real models for this campaign –  all ages, both sexes, and the results are brilliant. One of the models is 39-year old Mairi, from Edinburgh, who had a wonderful makeover for her campaign shots. Check out this video below to see Mairi and the other winners.

The collection itself is excellent. There are two new palettes, Complement Palette and Empower Palette (£34 each) which contain eyeshadows and pigments, two brilliant new Lipsticks (£16 each) in Underworld – a blueberry violet shimmer and Magnetism, a deep raspberry pink, two new Intense Lipglosses (£14 each) in Opulent, a rainbow beige, and Boost, a blueberry violet, two Nail Polishes (£13.50 each) in Creator, a black with silver flecks, and Charisma, a deep raspberry pink.

My favourite product is the Gleam (£18) a lightweight compact highlighter in Aurora, which is a light champagne pearlescent finish – you can add this to add lift and highlight wherever you want. Two new Powder Blushers (£18 each) in Sophie, a golden coral shimmer, and Allure, a dusky rose pink, and a new Precision Ink (£17) in Wisdom, an antique gold complete the capsule collection.

Basically, Generation Q is Illamasqua standing up against the industry ‘rules’ of’only wearing matt’ products and concealing your real identity under a sea of ‘beige’ after a certain age. I am definitely with them on this one! Long live colour, I say!
