Giorgio Armani Maestro Fusion Makeup

When you write about beauty for a living, you are lucky enough to get access to all sorts of beauty products. Sometimes, that means, you can get a bit blase about it all. ‘Oh, it’s another foundation‘, I’ve heard myself saying when the press release and product have arrived.

But from the minute I tried this foundation from Giorgio Armani, I was like a rookie beauty reporter all over again – highly excitable. Not only has Maestro given me brilliant coverage on my face, it’s managed to mask out all my cynicism as well! Why am I so excited? Well, this is a foundation like no other – and it really is. Armani have managed to create a foundation which is oil-based, with NO powders, and NO water!

And, they’re not even really calling it a foundation, because it is unlike any other. I have tried to show a drop of it on my hand (top) next to a drop of a run of the mill liquid foundation (bottom), for you to get an idea of it’s texture, which is very liquid. Created by patented Fusion Technology, the ultra-fine oil-pigment suspension perfects the complexion.

This ‘high slip fluid’ spreads evenly over skin, and highlight’s the skin’s natural luminosity with a no make-up feel.

It’s not a foundation, it’s a complexion perfector. A whole new generation of make-up that feels incredible, looks invisible and makes skin appear luminous every time. Anyone can wear it,” says Linda Cantello, International Make-up Artist for Giorgio Armani Cosmetics.

Ir really does glide on, and the best thing about it for me  is it is completely buildable. You can add another layer, and then more wherever you want more coverage. Most of all, I love it because it doesn’t feel or look like you’re wearing foundation, and I hate that made-up makeup look and feel.

It comes in a gorgeous glass bottle with a dropper, so you can control how much you use, and be careful -it really is highly fluid,and can get everywhere if you ‘dropper’ too much.

So, traditional foundations are usually emulsions with water in oil containing fillers. Those fillers can produce a visible masking effect. Maestro was created with four out-of-the box principles, delivering a result never seen before:

*       A water and powder-free base

*       Non-comodogenic

*       five time-released oils evaporating gradually

*      Smart pigment technology

*       An easy, fast, fresh and flawless application with an unforgettable sensory feel

That’s the science part – the reality is this; this foundation (sorry, complexion perfector) is amazing. It feels gorgeous on, it goes on like a dream, and the good news is there is also an under-eye dark circle corrector concealer too (which I forgot to photograph).
