Mineral Powder Foundation from Clarins

1 min read

Minerals are here to stay it seems. Not a beauty fad, but a very popular innovation, mineral makeup is readily available now with most big brands as well as the independents.

Clarins are launching their new Skin Illusion Mineral & Plant Extracts Loose Powder Foundation come September and it’s lovely. The packaging is brilliant, and the product itself is really beautiful. It’s made up from a cocktail of plant and mineral trace elements, including Pink Opal Powder for radiance, and Pink Algae Extract, a plant silicon with energising and hydrating properties.

The Pink Algae is harvested in a protected zone in Ouessant, France, and was selected by Clarins for its content of biologically active intracellular silicone – I’m not actually entirely sure what that means, but whatever it is, the finished product is light, gives lovely coverage, and lasts all day.

The packaging is really sweet. You twist off the gold lid and inside is a flat, round brush, perfectly integrated into the lid, which picks up just the right amount of powder. Swirl a small amount onto the brush, tap off excess, and apply using a circular motions.

Clarins suggest you start near your cheekbones and buff around your face, working your way towards forehead and nose.

It comes in six shades, and is £28. Clarins Skin Illusion Mineral & Plant Extracts Loose Powder Foundation is available exclusively at House of Fraser stores from September 6, and then nationwide at Clarins counters and clarins.co.uk from September 24.
