Estee Lauder's Violet Underground
There is nothing subtle about the Autumn 2012 collection from Estee Lauder. Tom Pecheux, Creative Makeup Director, has come up with a bold, in your face, collection inspired by glam rock. It is absolutely stunning, as the campaign image testifies.

“We created a dramatic fashion look with touch of fantasy” says Tom. “Inspired by glam rock, women can play dress up with colour and become a character that encompasses mystery, opulence, sex and confidence. It can transform her world.”
The hero product of the collection is the beautiful Pure Color Five Color Eyeshadow Palette in Violet Underground (£40) It is bold, bright, and includes an amazing pink eyeshadow which had to go through rigorous testing thanks to EU regulations on products that stain the skin. Apparently, a pink this bold is very rare. It looks terrifying, but can be applied wet, or dry, depending on how intense you want the shade. Beside the fuchsia, there’s a deep violet, a light crimson, a pale pink and a matte black.
I love this, and can’t wait to create a crazy eye with it! The Pure Color Quick-Thick EyeLiner in Punker Black (£20) is exactly as it says – quick and thick! Easy felt-tip pen liner to apply, and once it’s on, it’s not going anywhere. There are two new shades of Pure Color Velvet Lipstick in Black Cassis and Violet Crush (£19.50). They are beautiful – I’m in love with the violet shade. They are very matt, but if you want to change them, add one of the two new Pure Color Gloss shades, Chaotic Currant, and Rebellious Violet (£17).
A new nail colour completes the look – Pure Color Nail Lacquer in Black Iris (£14.50). This is really lovely – deep black with a really gorgeous violet twist. It’s a bold, innovative collection from Estee Lauder. It already makes me long for Autumn and Winter with long nights, chic dark clothes, and this amazing makeup!
