Whitney Houston's 80s makeup look

2 min read

I was pretty devastated to learn of the death of Whitney Houston at the weekend. She was one of my teenage idols. I particularly adored her in two videos, where her dresses were tight, her hair was wild and her makeup was bold and bright.

I Wanna Dance With Somebody and How Will I Know were pure Whitney pop at her peak. She was a beautiful 22-year-old. I was a 14 year old, desperate to be as sophisticated, and fun as her.

When I watched these videos at the weekend, it got me thinking about YSL’s Spring Collection, Candy Face, and it’s bold, bright 80s inspired colour palettes. I’d also been researching pink and orange lipsticks for another feature, which Whitney rocks in both these videos.
