Body-licious body creams (and butters and lotions!)

It’s the Oscars on Sunday night – so that means lots of leg peeking out of couture gowns, and shimmering arms and decolletes on show as the movie stars ramp up the glamour for the biggest red carpet of the year so far.

My poor legs feel like they haven’t had an outing for years, never mind months, but with spring around the corner, and a few weddings and events to attend (those are our Oscars, girls, aren’t they?!), it’s time to start looking after the skin on my body properly.

So, what to use and where to start? Here’s around-up of eight of my favourite lotions, creams and butters for your body.

1. Creme De La Mer The Body Cream, £100, houseoffraser.co.uk –  if you love Creme de la Mer for the face,  then it would make sense to use the body version. My mum used a tub of Creme de la Mer I had years ago when it launched on her legs. I found it too rich for my face – she said it worked a treat on her dry skin , and has never had results like it. Maybe I should get her a tub of this?! It does also contain a Blue Algae Lift Ferment which helps with suppleness.

2. Elemis Sp@home Pro-Collagen Body Cream, £49, timetospa.co.uk – a body cream with anti-ageing properties. Like their hugely successful Pro-Collagen Marine cream, this works to help boost the  collagen production of your skin. It also nourishes. It feels decadent and lovely on.

3. Marks and Spencer Ragdale Hall Luxurious Spa Body Butter, £8.50, marksandspencer.com – launched in January this collection is the result of M&S working closely with experts from the award winning Ragdale Hall Spa to create a luxury range. This cream contains three rich butters – shea, illipe and kokum – and really is super-buttery and rich. It’s a treat in a tub!

4. Emma Hardie Natural Lift and Sculpt Body Butter, £49, emmahardie.com– soft, extremely moisturising, the palest of yellow colours, and from one of my favourite brands. It’s expensive, but you really only need a tiny little amount for each area of your body you wish to apply it to. Contains exotic Inca Inchi oils from Peru.

5. Bliss Spa Lemon + Sage Body Butter. £20.50, blisslondon.co.uk– this is ‘maximum moisture cream’ and well, it does what it says! And the smell. I adore it. It’s really much more subtle a fragrance than you might think, which is excellent. It cintains Vitamins A, E and K, and you can also buy it in a super-size bottle!

6. Soap & Glory The Daily Smooth Body Butter, £8.50, boots.com – these products are so much fun. I love using their shower creams, and this butter contains rosehip seed oil and cocoa butter and is remarkably good for something at this price point. I really liked using it.

7. Marks and Spencer Fairtrade Passion Fruit Body Butter, £7.50, marksandspencer.com – beautiful, fresh, fruity and good enough to eat. There is something about scooping body cream out of a tub that feels really decadent. This is so well-priced you can scoop loads at once. And it doesn’t feel sticky, and does a great job on my dry skin.

8. Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Lotion, £3.85, boots.com – a classic that takes some beating. Softens smoothes and relieves dry skin. I love the smell of this product that seems to never go out of fashion! If you are on a strict budget, then you can’t go wrong with this one at all.
