Youthful Hands

Okay, I’m on Radio Scotland this morning, around about 11.30am on the Fred MacAulay show (being hosted this week by Stephen Jardine, and if you’re reading this later, you can ‘listen again’). I’m talking hands – Madonna’s in particular, and exploring just why she’s wearing those fingerless gloves EVERYWHERE at the moment.

Is she trying to bring her own 80s trend back, or is she, like many are saying, trying to hide old-lady hands?! I’ll be discussing all of this with Stephen.

We spend a fortune and hours of time on our faces but our hands can be a dead giveaway of age. With less flesh, our hands age more, the skin becomes thin and crepey and age spots, due to sun exposure, can occur.

I’ve always used handcream, and in particular Sisley’s Confort Extreme Main Nutritive Handcare with Harpagophytum. It’s not cheap. It’s £58.50 a tube, but it cleared up my dermatitis and it keeps my hands smooth and soft, and they don’t look too bad for a 40-year-old.

However, maybe, to avoid the fingerless glove trend like Madonna in a decade and a bit, I should up the ante, and try using Sisley’s Global Anti-ageing Sisleya handcream. It’s £89 a tube, and is specifically designed to prevent age signs on the hands, including loss of elasticity, dehydration, and the appearance of those dreaded brown spots.

My mum has used this in the past, and her hands look pretty good for a 71-year-old. A lot better than they would with fingerless gloves on anyway!
