Desert dreams with Estee Lauder

The new spring collection from Estee Lauder and Tom Pecheux was inspired by a vacation in Arizona, and the warm, sun-bleached, tones of the desert.

I went to Arizona years ago on holiday and in the Red Rock area around Sedona it is definitely inspirational.

My inspiration behind the collection was vacationing in Arizona, enjoying the warm sun, the amazing desert colours and the shadows that play on the sand and rocks.” says Tom. “I was thinking of a gorgeously healthy-looking woman that had an element of fantasy in her personality. I wanted to convey that with a palette of strong yet soft colours.”

This collection – Pure Color Topaz – captures the mood perfectly. The products to look out for are the Pure Color Five Color Eyeshadow Palette in Topaz Mosiac (£35), lovely neutral desert tones, with a pop of citron yellow at the centre and the Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelee in Limited Edition Topaz Chameleon (£28)– this brilliant powder gelee bronzer is AMAZING when you wet it!

There are two brilliant Pure Color Intense Kajal Eye Crayons (£17) big chunky eye pencils inspired by Indian Kohl, and in Dramatic Black and Dramatic Teal. The Pure Color Nail Lacquer (£14) in Teal Topaz is a brilliant bright but muted Southwestern-inspired turquoise, which takes me right back to the Native American markets of Arizona.

I’m not so sure about the Pure Color Gloss (£16) in Citron Kiss – but it’s perfect for a sun-kissed lip, if that’s what you like.

Estee Lauder Pure Color Topaz collection is available from February, at counters nationwide, and esteelauder.co.uk
