Luscious Lip Balms

I’m not a big fan of lip balm. I also think over-applying it, especially a petroleum based product, can sometimes make your dry, chapped lips worse. People overuse lip balm – once the cracked chapped lip has healed, don’t use your balm anymore!

And when you’re a lipstick fan, if you choose a good moisturising lip colour, then you ought not to need a balm as well, even in the harshest winter weather.

But, if you are a balm fan, then I’ve found three that I absolutely love – all very different and one of them off the scale in price, but brilliant in results!

First up is Lip Remedy from Origins. it’s one of Origins Specialists – a treatment product recommended for use only if, only when, and for only as long as the specific skin condition exists. This lip balm sinks in, and heals from the inside out.

It contains Menthol to calm and desensitise, Camphor to comfort, French Thyme, Oil of Wintergreen and Beta Glucan to relieve dryness and roughness as well as Tea Tree Oil, and Olive Oil. And, it doesn’t interfere with lipstick application as it is absorbed into the lip. £13, from origins.co.uk

My next favourite is more for an aesthetic reason, but the balm is 100% natural. However, it’s Andrea Garland’s vintage inspired jewellery, secretly concealing balm, that I am in love with.

Choose from La Renarde ring (£34), Molly Necklace – red sunglasses in tribute to Molly Ringwald in 80s movie Pretty in Pink – (£28), Archimedes Owl Brooch (£29.50), Shelley clutch bag necklace (£29.50) or Silkie Brooch – she’s a 60s inspired girl – (£26). Refills are just £5. Available from andreagarland.co.uk

Anf finally, Creme de la Mer’s The Lip Balm. Contains The Miracle Broth that’s in all Creme products, and various other anti-ageing and soothing ingredients. Has a fresh, light minty scent and taste, and is absolutely gorgeous on your mouth. And so it should be at surely the most expensive lip balm ever?! It’s £40!
