There’s always a lot going on in the beauty world at Christmas, so I thought I’d bring you a wee round-up of some beauty news this week.

*Get in to the Christmas spirit, and get free beauty goodies, with L’Occitane who have a fab ‘Decorate a tree’ competition on their website right now. Go to this link, and decorate a L’Occitane tree, and get aFREE 75ml Fleur Cherie Body Lotion. And, if your tree is voted in the top five most popular you will win a fab L’Occitane Gift Collection. I had a go at decorating my tree -called it Bombshells, after my own blog. Great fun for a Friday afternoon in the office, perhaps?!

* St Enoch Centre may be the revamped shopping mall in Glasgow city centre, but Buchanan Galleries has a brand new bareMinerals boutique to shout about. It’s the first in Scotland for the mineral makeup and skincare brand. The boutique provides a unique customer experience with dedicated Beauty Ambassadors on hand to offer bareMinerals ‘makeunders’ in the relaxed, fun environment. The boutique will host ‘Girlfriend Parties’ where you and up to 10 friends can have an exclusive evening in the store, learning makeup tips, and having fun!For more info call 0141 353 1540, visit bareminerals.co.uk

* Waaaaay back in the 1980s I studied beauty therapy at Telford College in Edinburgh. We had to practice on each other most of the time, but we were always thrilled when we had open days, or appointments with real-live members of the public to train on! So, it’s with this in mind that I urge any of you Edinburgh-based beauty fans to head along to Stevenson College and help the hairdressing and beauty students out.

Book before tomorrow, and the hairdressing trainees will offer free shampoo and sets and shampoo and blow dries. You can also take your false eyelashes along to The Salon and have them fitted for free by trainee beauty therapists. Electrolysis is also free. All treatments are supervised by fully qualified therapists and hairdressers. Trainees also eyelash tints for £3, brow tidy-up for £2 and manicures for £5, and massage treatments for just £7.

The Salon is open Monday to Friday from 9 to 4 during term time. It is also open on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 8pm for some treatments. It will close on 21 December for the Christmas break and reopen with a range of detox treatments on 9 January. Contact 0131 535 4758 to book your appointment, and help the future beauty therapist out!
