Midnight Enchantment at Boots!
Boots No7 main Christmas collection this year is called Midnight Enchantment. Created as ever by the talented No7 Creative Consultant, Lisa Eldridge, when I discussed it with her at the Boots Christmas Press Show back in July she told me it was inspired in part by Tim Burton and his magical mind!
It’s all about sultry metallics, subtle sparkle and high glamour shades. So, when I was asked down to my local Boots to have a makeover with it, I was really looking forward to it. Monica decided to do two looks – day to night. The first look was very subtle, and pretty, however, I wasn’t overly sure that I’d want to wear the lilac shade from the Eye Palette (£13) all over my eyes.
We took a different route for evening, when she created a dark smoky-ish eye with the darker purple shade, and the grey. It was sultry, but I’d have liked to have added a bit of the palest lilac shade in the corners here, as Lisa Eldridge suggests, to make the eyes really pop.
And me being me, I know I’d have gone heavier on the fabulous Smoky Eyeliner (£9.75) which was first introduced earlier this year and is now back as a permanent No7 fixture. I think Monica used the Black on me, there is also Brown and Sparkly Black.
The Blusher (£13) is a beautiful palette – almost too nice to use. However, that pretty design cleverly contains three colours, perfect for blush, contour and highlight.
The Lipstick in Winter Berry (£10) is a bit too safe for me, and Monica added a little bit more with a No7 Gloss in Lush. To complete the look there are two Nail Polishes (£10) in the collection – Glitter Bomb and Grey Matter. The Glitter Bomb is a fab bold sparkly deep burgundy.
Because I was being photographed we used Lift & Luminate Foundation (£15.50), but normally I would find it too heavy for me, and I would prefer the foundation they had on stand, the Instant Radiance (£12.50), as I prefer a dewy look, rather than an obviously made-up one.
