Cleanse that skin!

2 min read

Christmas = lots of parties + lots of makeup + lots of late nights = tired skin! A simple equation and one that we all practice at this time of year. But there is an unknown factor in this equation  – leaving that makeup on!

Ladies, don’t do it! Although we’ve all been there, and it is sorely tempting when we come in to just slump into bed, full face on the pillow, try and take it off!

Cleanser is a hugely important part of your beauty routine, and you need to find one that is right for you. And no, I don’t just mean a packet of baby wipes! (Guilty as charged for years!)

My absolute favourite, can’t do without cleanser is by facialist Emma Hardie. Her Amazing Face Natural Lift Moringa Cleansing Balm (£34, emmahardie.com) is a must-musthave in my bathroom and it actually makes taking make-up off a pleasure, it’s so easy and lovely to use. You mix a little of the balm with water, then apply all over your face, and eyes, it does eye makeup too, then wet the cloth that comes with it if you buy a set, or just use a facecloth or damp cotton wool pads, and remove. It really is that simple! It’s brilliant for dry skin like mine.

There’s a new cleanser on the market from Soap and Glory, fabulously named Peaches And Clean (£7, boots.com). Contains Natural Prach Fruit Extract and is suitable for all skin types. It’s a wash-off deep cleansing milk, and I’d suggest it’s brilliant for combination skin. You’d probably need to use a separate eye make up remover with this one, but it’s excellent for washing off the rest.

Another I’ve used and loved is Darphin’s Azahar Floral Water Micellar Cleanser (£23, houseoffraser.co.uk). The micellar part means it acts like a magnet, attracting and trapping impurities withour harsh rubbing. This one is brilliant for sensitive skin, and it can cleanse eye-make up off as well.

Another for combination skin,Origins’ Checks and Balances (£17, origins.co.uk) is a frothy face wash. If you did go to bed in that makeup, then something like this in the shower the next day will get rid. If your skin is really dry, then this isn’t ideal, but if not, it’s a lovely cleanser, and it’s also good for men. If you let them near it!

And finally, good old Pond’s Cold Cream (£4.07, boots.com). If it’s good enough for Kylie…. This is another of my favourites – again excellent for dry skin. As old as the hills, cold cream is really for all skin types and feels and smells fabulous. It removes everything, basically you just rub it all over your face, and use cotton wool pads to remove.
