Are you a typical Scot when it comes to beauty?
According to a recent survey by Debenhams*, Scottish women’s beauty sisters are to be found in Essex! Despite being at different ends of the UK, it seems Scottish lassies and those Essex girls share the same top five best-selling beauty products – Bronzer, Fake tan, Mascara, Lip Gloss and False eyelashes.
It looks like I should be heading to the Midlands to find my kindred spirits where red lipstick is the number one best seller at the department store beauty counters.
Those in London prefer a more natural look, with Tinted Moisturiser, and concealer the top two. And it seems if we tan, we like to do it on a Thursday, in preparation for the weekend!
“British women’s love of lotions and potions has ensured that our beauty halls are busy all over country,” said Ruth Attridge, spokesperson for Debenhams.
“Our lipstick sales are up 19 per cent, mascara sales up 21 per cent and nail varnish up 21 per cent when compared to last year. This beauty research helps us manage where we send our stock and when.
“Shipments of fake tan will be winging their way up North to satisfy the Thursday rush while we’ll also make sure Londoners don’t miss out on their Touche Éclat fix. However, when it comes to starting the Saturday night getting-ready ritual in store, The Only Way really is Essex!”
