A Compact foundation...

I was out at an event with fellow beauty writers last night, and we were debating the merits of different types of foundations.

Some of us loved the old ‘Pan-stick’ style, whilst others were fans of lighter liquids. I vary what I use, but I have always been a bit of a fan of compact foundations for the winter months when I like a little bit more coverage. In the last few weeks, I’ve been trying out the new Clarins Everlasting Compact Foundation SPF15 (£27).

It’s the same foundation as the liquid version, just in a different format, and you can apply it in different ways, to get two varying finishes.

For a matte, transparent finish, apply it with a dry sponge or brush. For full coverage apply with a damp sponge. It offers 15 hours of hydration, 15 hours of radiance and 15 hours of protection. It comes in six shades – Nude, Beige, Sand, Wheat, Honey and Amber.

I applied it with the dry sponge, not too much, and sweeping down the face, from the middle line of the face, outwards. It feels lovely, and it really does seem to be everlasting.

Clarins Everlasting Compact Foundation is available at Clarins counters, and online from mid-September
