5pm Big Deal - Live Native

Next week there’s an excellent Big Deal here on 5pm with Skye based ‘living skincare’ brand Live Native. What is living skincare, I hear you ask? Well, Live Native is a toxin-free range of cold-pressed vegan organic skincare products. They contain only the finest and purest available nature-intact tropical oils and mineral-rich living plant extracts.

What does that all mean? Well, basically it’s skincare that hasn’t been cooked, or altered by heat-processing, or anything being added, like many of your standard beauty products which are heated and treated in laboratories.

Live Native is the brainchild of Vicky Ewbank, who has been a raw food vegan for the last six years and is passionate about ‘living skincare’.

“When I became a raw vegan I realised that there wasn’t much choice in ‘living skin foods’, in fact none at all at the time,” Vicky said.  “Having made a conscious choice to lighten my diet and cleanse my body with only fresh, living, vegan foods, I couldn’t then use  ‘dead’ moisturisers.”

You don’t have to embrace the whole lifestyle however to appreciate the Live Native products. Without a doubt, there are many cosmetics out there that are full of nasties we wouldn’t want near our skin. So, why not give something truly organic a go?

I have been trying out Live Native’s Essential Travel Bag, which contains their moisturiser, toner and cleanser. You only need tiny amounts, there’s a lovely ritual for application, and my skin feels wonderfully soft and smooth.
