(N)ice-cream nails

2 min read

We are in the middle of National Ice Cream Week in case you didn’t know. The weather hasn’t been quite the right temperature for eating it right enough, but if reports are correct, we’ll all be munching on 99s or sliders this weekend – we’re looking at a mini heatwave over most of Central Scotland! Hooray!

But, if you aren’t a fan of ice-cream, or would rather just not indulge, then we’ve got a brilliant beauty alternative – the ice-cream manicure, courtesy of the Gelato range by Leighton Denny.

This ice-cream-cool range was inspired by the ice cream parlours – or gelaterie – of Milan and Rome. It has brilliant shades, from muted to bright, and superb names.

Pictured left, we’ve got Berry Nice – a luscious raspberry pink, perfect for a fun, flirty look; Do Me A Flavour – the brightest, juiciest most vibrant orange, perfectly in keeping with this season’s 1970s catwalk trend; and Inside Scoop – a gorgeous cool mint green that is wearable and on-trend.

Pictured right, the other three shades are Sundae Girl – candy-coloured perfection, this is a really girlie, light lilac pink, perfect for an alternative French manicure shade; Ice To Meet You – a romantic, sheer white with a very subtle golden undertone; and Lolly Pop – my absolute favourite – this is strawberries and cream in a polish. It’s a gorgeous pink that flatters all skin-tones and is bound to be as popular as strawberry ice-cream itself!

If you really feel like having fun, why not buy a few, and some nail art brushes  and paint ice cream sundaes on your talons!

The full range is available now from John Lewis stores and Leighton Denny, each polish is £11.
