A new kind of suncare...

1 min read

So, the heatwave is on its way, and that means baring our bodies, soaking in the rays, and having fun in the sun. But, most importantly protecting ourselves from the harmful rays. Yes, okay, everyone loves a bit of a tan, and some in Scotland more than most, but without wanting to completely rain on the sunny parade, we have ridiculously high statistics for skin cancer – so get that suncream on!

I am so looking forward to using this brand new, innovative suncare range from Institut Esthederm, called Adaptasun. If you’ve tried it please comment below. Due to no recent holidays, and our winter-like weather, I have had to rely on other beauty editors recommendations for it, and the word is it’s brilliant.

Basically it does as it says – adapts to your skin, and the climate, using new UV incellium technology which strengthens the skins own defences against sun damage. In effect it re-educates the skin cells to tan safely. I’ve also been told it protects against the ageing UVA effects of the sun, and aggressions such as prickly heat. Space NK Founder Nicky Kinnaird is a fan. “With UV Incellium technology, this lotion actually helps skin better defend itself in extreme sun,” she says.

It isn’t rated by SPFs but by a star system – one star for mild sun, two stars for normal or strong sun, and three stars for extreme sun. The two and three stars are available in a sensitive skin format, and you can buy body and face creams.

If the heatwave does appear this weekend, I’ll try Adaptasun out, and report back on Monday, hopefully not burned!

Adaptasun is available from Space NK, and lookfantastic.com. Face Cream, £32, Body Cream, £41
