Before you go to bed...remember to put your make up ON!

2 min read

Odd headline? Well, odd product alert! If you know anything about mineral makeup, and in particular, the Kings of that field, bareEscentuals, bareMinerals, you probably know that going to sleep with your mineral makeup on is actually OK. The natural non-chemical mineral content of your makeup is probably less harmful to your skin than some of the alcohol wipes we might use to take it off in a rush. (This doesn’t mean I don’t advocate a proper cleansing routine, because I do, but sometimes…!)

Now, bareMinerals have thrown us a curved ball, and are actively encouraging wearing their product to bed , with the most intriguing item in their recently launched skincare range, bareMinerals Pure Transformation Night Treatment (£45, www.bareescentuals.co.uk).

I’m not sure if I can get my head around this one at all. I’ve tried it and I’m still not sure. Basically you apply this mineral powder at he end of your evening skincare routine and go to bed. Yes, you’ve got it, you put some makeup ON before going to bed!

It’s certainly a ‘breakthrough night-time treatment’ as bareMinerals say, but is is a gimmick or a great addition to your night-time routine? This jury is still out. What confuses me even more is that it actually comes in four shades – clear, light, medium and tan – to instantly diffuse imperfections. I suppose it’s great for those of us in new relationships who are a bit shy at our new partner seeing us with no makeup on!?

The powder is powered by the RareMinerals ActiveSoil Complex to replenish skin for smoother, brighter, more even skin tone with improved texture.  The idea is that whilst you sleep, it does it’s magic and you will wake up with a radiant glow. I can’t say I saw a huge amount of difference…

I’m just not sure if I can honestly say I will incorporate this into my night-time routine – haven’t we got enough to do before bed as it is with cleansing, moisturising, putting on overnight serums, eye creams, and not to mention brushing our teeth!?

What do you think?
